About Us

Punto Blanco Gun Dogs

Punto Blanco Gun Dogs is a unique dog breeding, hunting, and training partnership. We provide dogs with superior genetics that are professionally trained and receive world-class exposure to wild birds:

  • All foundation dogs are selected based on their outstanding athleticism, superior hunting skills, and ease of handling. Each litter possesses a set of desired traits only achieved through calculated sire/dam pairings.
  • At various ages until delivery, all dogs hunt multiple species of wild birds across the US, traveling in our fully customized 42’ dog “Rig”.
  • Our dogs hunt in varied conditions and find birds in any environment, regardless of the extreme conditions. Along with our adult dogs, pups typically start to hunt by 16 weeks.
  • All dogs are trained professionally; they possess all companion dog traits, are house-broken, and are thoroughly socialized. No dog leaves our facility without being fully e-collar transitioned and under total control off-lead.
  • Levels of steadiness and field traits are matched to each client’s desires. Dogs are sold across the spectrum, from started to fully finished.  We do not sell untrained puppies.

There are no other Llewellin Setters with our unique Punto Blanco appearance, a proven ability to hunt multiple species of wild and preserve birds, and our level of rigorous and step-wise professional training.

FrequentlY Asked Questions

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Unfortunately, no.  We only offer young dogs that range from newly started to finished; most purchasers choose pups that are "started dogs" at about 10-16 months old.  We work closely with prospective clients to specifically match dogs with their permanent homes.  Some clients wish to acquire dogs for companion purposes only and will receive non-hunting dogs fully trained with all manners, obedience, and off-lead training.

As mentioned above, dogs will be trained to a specific level. For example, a newly started dog could be reliably obedient, e-collar transitioned, and fully socialized as an excellent companion and steady-to-flush bird dog.  Whereas an older mid-level started dog might have more bird exposure, is steady to wing and shot, and is capable of retrieving.  So the cost of a dog is not fixed, and the range is wide depending on many factors, including the dog's level of training, their age, and their level of enthusiasm to hunt. Dogs sold as companions only (non-hunting dogs) cost considerably less than those trained as gun dogs.

Our foundation dogs are selected based on very specific factors.  They are proven intelligent, stylish on point, healthy, and able to locate birds in varied and extreme conditions. They have been shown to naturally honor/back, retrieve, and work as a pack or independently. Their pedigrees, proven progeny, and ability to hunt long and hard is something rarely found.  A notable differentiator in the Punto Blanco Setter line is that our foundation (and dogs for sale) have successively hunted 7-10 species of wild birds across many states, including Montana, North Dakota, Arizona, Nebraska, Michigan, Maine, West Virginia, Georgia, and Virginia.  Our dogs are then steadied depending on the client's wishes, with all formal training conducted by NK9Training® using Handler Capital® methods grounded in the HuntSmith Silent Command System. The dog's mindset and capacity to perform as a bird dog and a life-long companion is proven. So when we say genetically curated, you know what you are getting...unlike randomly choosing a 7-8 week-old puppy,

First, give us a call to discuss the availability of purchasing a dog based on your requirements.  If you decide to purchase a dog you will be asked to submit paperwork and a deposit. In addition, we will explain the process of matching our dogs to owners to make sure they fulfill their genetic purpose and proudly serve as a family companion.
